Presentation of the "BSMI SCHOLAR" project
"BSMI SCHOLAR" is an academic intelligence platform designed to support researchers in identifying credible, high-impact scientific journals while protecting them from predatory and unethical publishing practices. The project was officially presented on May 5, 2025, to the university Rector and Academic Council, and subsequently showcased one week later at a Ministry-organized innovation fair, highlighting its national relevance and scalability. The platform combines a web-based system and a Telegram bot to provide fast, accessible, and reliable guidance for researchers at all levels. BSMI SCHOLAR aims to strengthen research quality, publication ethics, and international visibility of scientific outputs.
The "BSMI SCHOLAR" project addresses a critical gap in the academic publishing ecosystem: the lack of accessible, trustworthy tools for evaluating journals indexed in Scopus and related databases. The project delivers: 1)A centralized platform for discovering verified Scopus-indexed journals; 2)Smart filtering by subject area, quartile, country, and publisher; 3)A Telegram bot for rapid, on-the-go journal verification; 4)Educational guidance to help researchers avoid predatory journals; 5)By integrating technology with research ethics, BSMI SCHOLAR serves as a practical digital assistant for scholars, institutions, and research administrators.
In recent years, researchers—particularly early-career scholars—have faced growing challenges in academic publishing: 1)Rapid growth of predatory and hijacked journals; 2)Limited awareness of reliable indexing standards; 3)Time-consuming manual checks across multiple databases; 4)Pressure to publish quickly, increasing vulnerability to fraud; 5)Lack of localized, user-friendly tools in the regional research ecosystem; 6)As a result, many researchers risk financial loss, reputational damage, and rejection of their work due to publication in illegitimate journals.
"BSMI SCHOLAR" offers a technology-driven, researcher-centric solution to these challenges. Key components of the solution include: 1)Verified journal database aligned with Scopus indexing standards; 2)Automated journal validation to flag suspicious or predatory outlets; 3)Telegram bot integration for instant access and ease of use; 4)Clear decision-support tools that simplify journal selection; 5)Preventive education, reducing misinformation and exploitation; 6)By making journal evaluation simple, fast, and transparent, BSMI SCHOLAR empowers researchers to publish with confidence and integrity—turning a risky process into a controlled and informed decision.
